An Elopement Day, that's right DAY!
You’ve probably seen it plastered all over the gram in the last year. X,Y & Z reason why you should elope. But are you still left super confused of how/what that would look like? Are you afraid you will miss out on some of those “traditional” wedding day activities?
Well, what if I told you that didn’t have to be the case & I showed you what a day could look like!?
Well, I want to do just that!
Let me first start off by saying that eloping doesn’t mean going to the courthouse in a knee length white dress & flip flops. It can mean those things, but it doesn’t have to and thanks to the year 2020 🤪, it’s come so far from that.
First step, let’s set the scene.
You and your partner have decided to elope in a little ski town. You research for Air Bnb’s in the area and you find the CUTEST little condo. Big, cozy fireplace, board games and a love sac. (Yes, a love sac. Look it up & thank me later. 🤣) You get all settled in, maybe even stay the night before, and your hair and makeup artist arrives and begins to make you feel your best & of course your photographer arrives to document you and all your details. 💁🏼♀️
Just cause you’re eloping doesn’t mean that you can’t still have a pretty gown, bouquet & jewelry. Heck, you can even have a custom invitation suite to send to guests and let them know that you a. eloped or b. where you eloped!
After you’re all dressed and ready you pin the boutonnière & write your vows or love letter to your partner.
Go ahead and take a peek below ↓ & keep reading/scrolling to see what comes next!
Once you’ve gotten ready you head off to the place where you will say your vows.
This can look different for every couple and every elopement.
Some might choose to say them only surrounded by trees, others on a coastline & some on a glacier. That is all up to you & what feels right for you and your partner. But don’t worry, if you don’t have a clue where to begin, I gotchu. 😉
This day, it looked like saying their vows in a frozen meadow at the base of mount Alyeska.
Afterwards we headed up the tram to get photos with the incredible view of Turnagain Arm in the background. Nothing says Alaska quite like being up there! 😍
Keep Scrolling, you’re getting to the good part! ↓
Once they had become one, we headed back to their rental for a little celebratory meal. Just because you’re eloping doesn’t mean that you can’t have a reception, of sorts. This can look however you want, pizza? Alaskan Charcuterie? Grilling steak on your patio? You can even go out to eat to celebrate!
Just like with anything wedding & elopement, this can be whatever you want it to be plus I say you should never turn down a reason to have some cake! Plus the first year wedding cake was something I found so fun when I got married. 😉
Once they had eaten & cut the cake they finished off the night with some celebratory IPA’s from Girdwood Brewing Co cozied up around the fire pit. It was the perfect end to the perfect day!
No matter if you’re eloping or choosing the traditional route the concept and idea is still the same. Do things that speak to you and your love. Don’t do things because “it’s what you do” or because your mom & Aunt Sally say you have too. You don’t have to do anything & your wedding day should be a reflection of how you two are together. ❤️
Huge thanks to the vendors who made this shoot possible! Your creativity & expertise did not go unnoticed.😍
