ELEGANT RAINY WEDDING IN THE MOUNTAINS OF GIRDWOOD, ALASKA

Jen and Josh’s rainy wedding in the mountains of Girdwood, Alaska was truly an unforgettable day. When I showed up to Alyeska Resort the morning of their wedding, it was POURING RAIN! I mean, DUMPING! Although the weather wasn’t ideal, Jen and Josh didn’t let that stop them from having the time of their lives. They took advantage of the rain to create a dreamy and elegant experience. As a result, they had an adventurous day with their loved ones against the beauty of the mountains. Overall, it was probably my favorite wedding of the season!

Jen & Josh’s ADVENTUROUS WEDDING IN THE MOUNTAINS

Because of the rain, I thought for sure we’d have to pivot and move Jen and Josh’s wedding inside. This would mean I’d have to get creative with Alyeska Resort's dim interior for their portraits. However, when I walked into the room where Jen was getting ready, she greeted me with, “Are you ready to be soaked?” She expressed that the top of the mountain was very important to their story. Being avid snowboarders and always visiting the mountain in the winter, Josh really wanted to do their portraits at the top despite the rain. So, we rallied up the tram with some umbrellas and had their first look in the misty (LOL) mountains and wind, creating beautiful memories from their wedding in the mountains. After the chill set in, we took cover in the tram dock and utilized the cool window structures.

Even with the weather, Jen and Josh still chose to have their ceremony outside, letting the rain make it magical. Everyone came together and helped create a stunning wedding in the mountains. As a part of the ceremony, Jen included a heartfelt tribute for her sister, who passed away when she was a teenager. She held a seat in her honor that her mom didn't know about until she got down the aisle. Her reaction was heartbreaking and warming at the same time. Afterwards, we all dried off and warmed up inside the reception space. Jen and Josh, so lovingly referred to as “Joshifer,” partied and danced their little hearts out all night. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the film photos that I captured from the reception!
